A man lost his life after being struck by a pickup truck on Parker Road in northeast Houston early Monday morning. This tragic incident followed an altercation that took place in the street, according to local authorities.
The crash occurred around 1 a.m. near Pate Road. Police reported that two men were seated in the back of a car when a confrontation ensued. At least one of the men exited the vehicle and stood in the street, where he was subsequently hit by a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction on the two-lane road.
Emergency services rushed the injured man to the hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene after the incident, and law enforcement confirmed that he was not under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities noted that the area where the crash took place was poorly lit, which might have contributed to the accident.
As of now, the identities of those involved have not been released, and no charges have been filed. Investigators are still working to establish fault in the collision and are trying to determine which lane the victim was in at the time he was struck. The reason for the man exiting the car and the specifics of the initial altercation remain unclear.
Police continue to investigate this incident to gather more information.
