The Texas A&M Aggies were eliminated from the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament following a significant loss to the Houston Cougars on Friday evening. The final score was 57-88, marking a decisive victory for the Cougars in the second-round matchup held in Oklahoma City.
The Aggies, ranked No. 10, struggled to regain control after falling behind 28-46 at halftime against the second-ranked Cougars. Despite their efforts in the second half, they were unable to close the gap.
Houston’s performance was highlighted by impressive statistics, including a 44% shooting accuracy from the field and an exceptional 80% success rate at the free-throw line.
Several key players contributed to Houston’s success. Guard Emmanuel Sharp led the team with 18 points, successfully making 5 of 11 field goal attempts. Forward Chris Cenac Jr. added 17 points, converting 7 of 8 free throws, while guard Milos Uzan scored 15 points and secured four rebounds.
On the other side, Texas A&M’s efforts were led by guard Josh Holloway, who scored 12 points with 4 of 6 field goals made. Guard Pop Isaacs contributed 8 points, netting 5 of 6 from the free-throw line, and forward Rashaun Agee added 7 points along with three rebounds.
With this defeat, Texas A&M exits the tournament, while the Houston Cougars prepare to face the winner of the upcoming match between VCU and Illinois in the third round, scheduled for Thursday.
