HOUSTON – The Houston area is set to experience elevated temperatures throughout the weekend, with particularly warm conditions expected during the World Cup matches.
Sizzling Summer Heat for Match Days
As typical for June, the heat will persist in Houston, especially during the World Cup match tonight and again on Monday. High temperatures are projected to remain in the 90s, with heat index values soaring above 100 degrees each afternoon. Fans planning to attend the stadium or the FIFA Fan Fest should be prepared for steamy conditions.
Dusty Skies Ahead
Saharan dust is expected to linger over Southeast Texas, potentially giving the skies a hazy or milky appearance at times. A noticeable increase in haze is anticipated on Monday, coinciding with the arrival of the thickest plume of dust. Although rain chances remain low, the heat and humidity will contribute to uncomfortable conditions during the afternoon and early evening hours.
Limited Tropical Activity
The dry, dusty air is likely to inhibit tropical development across the Atlantic and Gulf regions. Currently, there are no immediate concerns regarding tropical storms for Southeast Texas, allowing the forecast to focus primarily on heat, haze, and predominantly dry weather.
