Houston’s FIFA Fan Festival has announced a temporary pause on entry for Sunday, July 5, due to reaching its full capacity.
The Houston World Cup committee confirmed around 3 p.m. that the festival could accommodate no more than 7,500 attendees. As a result, entry will be halted until additional space becomes available.
For those who find themselves waiting to enter the Fan Fest, there are plenty of attractions and activities in East Downtown as part of the “Football Fiesta” that can be enjoyed in the meantime.
Currently, there is no indication of when entry might reopen, leaving fans in anticipation.
In addition, Shell Energy Stadium has also confirmed it has reached capacity. The venue, which offers over 17,000 seats, had distributed free general admission tickets that are now all claimed.
The excitement continues with the FIFA World Cup Round of 16, featuring two matches today taking place in the U.S. and Mexico. Brazil is currently playing against Norway at the New York/New Jersey Stadium, while Mexico will face England later tonight at 7:00 p.m. CT in Mexico City.
