A teenage driver has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after colliding with a Fort Worth police vehicle late Saturday night, resulting in injuries to an officer. The incident occurred shortly after 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of South Riverside Drive and the Martin Luther King Freeway (U.S. Highway 287).
The driver, whose identity remains confidential due to her status as a minor, reportedly failed to yield the right of way while attempting to turn left onto the highway ramp. Her red Chevrolet Silverado struck the front-driver’s side of a marked police vehicle, which was part of the Fort Worth Police Department’s Digital Research Unit.
Both the officer and the teenager were transported to a local hospital for medical attention. The extent of the officer’s injuries has not been disclosed, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is currently underway.
