A woman was arrested in a south Fort Worth neighborhood after an officer-involved shooting incident that unfolded on Wednesday night. The event began around 8:45 p.m. when police received reports of a woman firing a gun.
Leandra Johnson, 32, was taken into custody following a foot pursuit. Witnesses reported that she had been shooting into the air, prompting the police response. Upon their arrival, Johnson allegedly fled the scene, disregarding police commands.
During the chase, Johnson reached into her purse, leading an officer to believe she may have been armed. The officer discharged his weapon in her direction; however, Johnson was not struck and sustained no injuries. After the officer fired, she complied with police and was arrested without further incident.
While no firearm was located in Johnson’s possession, authorities discovered ammunition at her residence that matched shell casings found at the scene. She has since been charged with evading arrest and has posted bond to be released from the Tarrant County Jail.
