Texas Game Wardens Announce $1,000 Reward for Information on Alligator Shooting at Fort Worth Nature Center

Texas game wardens are currently offering a $1,000 reward for information that could lead to the apprehension of individuals responsible for the illegal shooting of alligators at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, located on Lake Worth.

Between May and July 2026, at least three alligators were targeted at this nature refuge. Tragically, two of these creatures were killed and their remains were abandoned, while a third was found alive, suffering with a crossbow bolt embedded in its body.

The reward initiative is part of Operation Game Thief, a program in Texas aimed at combating wildlife crimes. Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have relevant information regarding these incidents to reach out.

Individuals can provide tips by calling Operation Game Thief at 1-800-792-4263 (GAME), visiting their website at tpwd.texas.gov/warden/connect/ogt, or using the Texas OGT mobile application. Text messages can also be sent by typing “TXOGT” followed by the information to 847411. Callers can choose to remain anonymous.
