A tragic incident occurred late Tuesday night in Downtown Houston, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist. The rider reportedly fell from an elevated ramp on Interstate 45, landing near U.S. 59 northbound, close to Pierce Street.
Authorities faced challenges in pinpointing the crash site initially, as there were no witnesses to observe the motorcyclist’s fall over the railing. Investigators are currently working to determine whether another vehicle contributed to this unfortunate event.
Details of the Incident
According to Lieutenant Willkens, police received notifications about the crash around 11:35 p.m., near the intersection of I-45 and US-59, close to Gray Street. After some difficulty, officers finally located the motorcyclist on the side of US-59 North at Pierce Street, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on I-45 and took the elevated ramp to merge onto US-59 northbound when he possibly went over the railing, landing in a grassy area below.
