A 15-year-old boy is now facing a manslaughter charge following the death of an 18-year-old man who was shot inside a vehicle. The victim, identified as Cristopher Nevarez, succumbed to his injuries days after the incident.
On the evening of October 3, police responded to a report at a hospital located in the 8200 block of Walnut Hill Lane. Both Nevarez and the juvenile suspect arrived at the facility after the shooting occurred at a different site.
Investigators have established that the teenager shot Nevarez from behind while they were seated in a car. The gunfire struck Nevarez in the neck, leaving him critically injured, and also resulted in an injury to the shooter’s hand.
On October 5, the Dallas Police Fugitive Unit apprehended the 15-year-old suspect based on an aggravated assault warrant. Unfortunately, Nevarez passed away two days later, prompting authorities to elevate the charges against the suspect to manslaughter.
The juvenile remains in custody as the investigation continues. However, details surrounding the motive for the shooting and the relationship between the two individuals have not been disclosed. Due to his age, the police have not released the name of the suspect.
