A suspect and a security guard were hospitalized following a shootout that occurred on Friday night in Houston’s Chinatown area. The incident took place shortly after 8 p.m. at a store located off Bellaire Boulevard near Beltway 8.
According to police reports, the altercation began when a man and a woman entered the store with a dog, prompting the security guard to inform them that pets were not permitted inside due to health regulations. This led to a heated argument, during which both the man and the security guard exchanged gunfire.
Houston Police Department Lieutenant Larry Crowson indicated that an officer nearby heard the shots and pursued the suspect, successfully apprehending him. First aid was administered to both the security guard and the male suspect until they could be transported to a hospital, where they are currently in critical condition.
Fortunately, the woman and the dog were not injured in the incident. Authorities confirmed that the woman remained at the scene to provide a statement to law enforcement officials.
At this time, the identities of those involved in the shooting have not been disclosed.
