A high-speed police chase in a residential area of south Fort Worth concluded dramatically when the suspect’s vehicle narrowly missed colliding with a home, resulting in the driver’s arrest on multiple charges, including outstanding warrants.
The incident unfolded Friday afternoon as Fort Worth police attempted to pull over a vehicle on Garden Acres Drive around 2 p.m. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Samuel Gbadebo, refused to stop and instead accelerated, prompting a police pursuit.
The chase came to an abrupt end when Gbadebo’s sedan sped through an intersection and halted just feet away from the dining room of a nearby residence, where a family was preparing for a garage sale. Surveillance footage captured the swift response of the officers as they surrounded the vehicle moments later.
Mary Aguado, the homeowner, recounted the tense experience, stating that several family members were outside when the chase occurred. She expressed relief that her granddaughter was not present at the time, fearing the situation could have been far more dangerous. “I initially thought I heard gunshots, but it turned out to be the sound of police deploying a Taser,” Aguado recalled. Her mother spotted Gbadebo fleeing the car before officers apprehended him nearby.
Authorities revealed that Gbadebo had several outstanding warrants from police departments in Grapevine and Frisco. Following the pursuit, he was taken into custody, and residents were advised to stay indoors until the situation was fully secured. A family member captured cellphone footage that conveyed their fear and frustration during the chaotic scene.
This incident was not the first time Aguado’s home faced danger from a vehicle. Last December, another car crashed through her fence and struck the house. In response, the family installed heavy rocks and cement pillars in their front yard, which Aguado credits with preventing more severe damage during this latest chase. “That rock is what saved my house,” she stated. “It’s only a matter of time before it happens again.”
In addition to the existing warrants, Gbadebo now faces charges of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and resisting arrest. His criminal history includes prior arrests in North Texas, specifically in Denton County.
