Houston police are currently seeking a suspect in connection with a tragic shooting that occurred early Thursday morning at a residence on Anita Street in the Third Ward area. The incident has left one man dead, identified as the victim and referred to as the homeowner’s “godson.”
The shooting took place shortly after midnight in the 3300 block of Anita Street. According to law enforcement officials, the alleged shooter, a man in his late 20s, arrived at his mother’s home just before the altercation. Upon entering, he reportedly began firing a pistol at the victim, who was in the living room at the time.
Authorities stated that the suspect discharged his weapon approximately four times, hitting the victim twice. Despite the prompt response from paramedics with the Houston Fire Department, the injured man was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his wounds.
Both individuals were residing in the same household with the homeowner, who is the biological mother of the suspect. Although the victim was not related by blood to the homeowner, she regarded him as her “godson.”
As the investigation continues, details surrounding the motive for the shooting remain unclear. Police have yet to publicly disclose the identities of those involved in the incident, nor have they provided a description of the suspect or additional information regarding the search for him.
