A 67-year-old man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a collision with an Arlington Independent School District (ISD) bus. The incident occurred on February 18 at the intersection of Treecrest Drive and the Interstate 20 frontage road.
The victim, identified as William Roberts, was cycling eastbound when the bus, which was carrying four students, made a right turn onto the frontage road around 2:30 p.m. According to investigators, Roberts was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was thrown from his bike upon impact.
Following the collision, the bus driver immediately stopped, called 911, and provided assistance to Roberts until emergency responders arrived. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but tragically passed away a week later, on February 25.
Fortunately, none of the students on the bus were injured in the incident. While the investigation into the crash is ongoing, authorities have not filed any criminal charges at this time.
