A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his ex-lover’s husband in east Harris County early Tuesday morning. The incident has garnered significant attention due to the tragic circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police reports indicate that 38-year-old Gary Davis is facing charges for the death of 36-year-old Marlon Sanders. As of now, Davis’ bond has not been established, and a motion has been filed requesting that it be denied by the court.
Authorities received a 911 call reporting the shooting shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Constable deputies responded to the scene located on Blue Timbers Court near CE King Parkway and East Little York Road. Upon arrival, they found Sanders suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The background of this case reveals a complex relationship dynamic. According to court documents and statements from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Sanders’ wife had a previous relationship with Davis while she and Sanders were separated. After reconciling with Sanders, she allowed Davis to maintain a relationship with their 9-month-old daughter.
In the days leading up to the tragic event, Sanders’ wife had brought their child to Davis for visitation. As she and Sanders returned to pick up the baby, Davis allegedly sent threatening messages to his ex, indicating he would not return their child. When they arrived at Davis’ residence, Sanders waited by the vehicle while his wife went inside to retrieve the baby.
Witness accounts suggest that Davis emerged from the home armed with a gun after asking who was outside. Reports indicate that he then ran to Sanders’ truck and fired at him twice before fleeing the scene in another vehicle.
Following the shooting, Davis reportedly attempted to contact his ex-girlfriend but hung up when she passed the phone to a deputy present at the location. He subsequently made additional calls from different numbers, but she did not respond.
