In a historic moment for soccer, Immy Khan, a resident of Fort Worth, has been honored as the 50 millionth fan to attend a FIFA World Cup match. This recognition came during Monday’s Round of 16 showdown between Spain and Portugal at Dallas Stadium, where Khan was present for his ninth match of the ongoing tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup has attracted over 6 million fans to its matches, with the recent game hosting 70,649 spectators as Spain triumphed over Portugal with a score of 1-0.
Milestone Recognition
FIFA officials officially acknowledged Immy Khan as the milestone fan following the match, where he was awarded a commemorative ticket by soccer legends Carles Puyol and Pepe. This ticket marks a significant moment in the history of the tournament.
As of now, the total attendance for the 2026 World Cup stands at 6,071,923, with 11 matches still to be played. Overall, the all-time attendance for FIFA World Cup matches has reached 50,020,653.
Khan’s Experience
Expressing his excitement, Khan remarked, “What an incredible experience! We’re blessed to be hosting so many incredible visitors, welcoming us to the city of Dallas, the city of Fort Worth. What a great city to be the 50 millionth fan.” Although he cheered for Spain during the match, he sported U.S. soccer attire in anticipation of the upcoming U.S. Men’s National Team match against Belgium, revealing that his favorite player is midfielder Weston McKennie.
Khan continued, “The tournament’s been great. We’ve been to nine games so far. The hospitality, the facilities, the guest services, the matches – on the field, off the field, everything has been great. We’re so blessed to have all of these visitors to the United States, to Canada, to Mexico. FIFA – what an incredible organization.”
Looking Ahead
While it’s no longer possible to become the 50 millionth fan, soccer enthusiasts still have the opportunity to catch another World Cup match in North Texas. Dallas Stadium is set to host its final match of the 2026 tournament on Tuesday, July 14, at 2 p.m., featuring a semifinal bout. The victorious team from this match will move on to compete in the World Cup Final on July 19 at the New York/New Jersey Stadium.
