Texas Baseball Shines: Six Players Selected for 2026 MLB All Star Weekend

During the 2026 MLB All-Star Weekend in Philadelphia, six players with connections to Texas baseball will showcase their talent. Among the participants are Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and Texas Rangers reliever Jacob Latz, both of whom are set to play in the All-Star Game on Tuesday.

The event will also feature four promising prospects from San Antonio, Midland, and the Rangers organization at the MLB Futures Game on Sunday, highlighting the depth of talent in Texas baseball.

The MLB All-Star Weekend festivities will include the Futures Game, the MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3 competition, and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, culminating in the All-Star Red Carpet Show and the 96th MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park.

For the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros and Jacob Latz of the Texas Rangers will represent the Lone Star State, both being honored with selections to the American League All-Star team.

Before the All-Star Game, four players from Texas minor league teams will demonstrate their skills in the MLB Futures Game. Among them is right-handed pitcher Caden Scarborough, a top prospect for the Texas Rangers, currently playing for the High-A Hub City Spartanburgers.

The San Antonio Missions, affiliated with the San Diego Padres, will be represented by catcher Ethan Salas, a rising star in baseball. Meanwhile, the Midland RockHounds, affiliated with the Athletics, will send left-handed pitcher Jamie Arnold and infielder Leo De Vries, showcasing West Texas talent in this prestigious event.

The MLB Futures Game is scheduled to commence at 11 a.m. CST on Sunday, while the All-Star Game will take place at 7 p.m. CST on Tuesday, both at Citizens Bank Park.
