Shooting Incident Near Houston's Discovery Green Leaves One Injured

A minor was hospitalized Friday night following a shooting incident during a gathering in Downtown Houston.

The event took place near Discovery Green, where approximately 100 minors had assembled. The situation escalated into a fight among a group of men, prompting one individual to pull out a firearm and fire shots into the crowd, which led to a chaotic dispersal.

According to a lieutenant present at the scene, the shooting was reported just before 10 p.m. on Austin and Leeland Streets. A minor, who was not part of the altercation, sustained a gunshot wound to the armpit and was promptly transported to a hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.

As of now, law enforcement has not apprehended any suspects, but they believe this incident to be isolated and do not consider there to be an ongoing threat to the public.

Details surrounding the nature of the gathering remain unclear; however, officials have stated that it was not classified as a teen takeover.
