Houston Weekend Weather: Increased Chances of Rain Ahead

HOUSTON – The forecast indicates a return of hit-or-miss showers with a significant increase in rainfall expected as the weekend approaches.

This week, Houston will continue to experience the typical August heat, with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid-90s and heat index values soaring to around 103 to 104 degrees.

Starting Friday, deeper moisture from the Gulf will begin to influence the weather, leading to scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, particularly along and south of Interstate 10. While temperatures may ease slightly, the humidity will persist, and the likelihood of daily storms will continue to rise as the weekend nears.

In terms of tropical activity, there are currently no active cyclones or disturbances being monitored across the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico. For the immediate future, no systems pose a threat to Southeast Texas; however, it is advisable to remain vigilant as the warm waters of the Gulf can allow systems to develop rapidly.
