Garland police are actively seeking assistance from the public in identifying the driver responsible for a hit-and-run incident that left a 12-year-old boy with serious injuries on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. when the boy, riding an electric scooter, was crossing a marked crosswalk at the intersection of North Garland Avenue and Apollo Road. A white utility-style work truck struck him, according to law enforcement reports.
Described as a four-door vehicle equipped with side storage compartments, the truck’s driver is believed to be a heavy-set male with a short buzz cut. Following the collision, the driver briefly halted before fleeing southbound on North Garland Avenue. The truck had been traveling eastbound on Apollo Road prior to turning onto North Garland Avenue.
Fortunately, the boy is currently listed in stable condition. Authorities are urging the driver to come forward and are appealing to witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the accident to assist with the investigation.
