The incident took place near the intersection of North Main Street and E. 36th Street, resulting in multiple train crossings being blocked in the Independence Heights area.
According to officials, a juvenile male attempted to cross the train tracks in a bid to outrun an oncoming train but was struck before he could make it to safety. Unfortunately, the young boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
