A woman from Conroe, Texas, is creatively raising awareness about her urgent need for a kidney, a journey that not only aims to save her own life but also to inspire others to consider becoming donors. Yvonne Collins has taken to social media and even transformed the back of her car into a mobile billboard to share her story.
Yvonne’s health struggles began in 2017 when lupus triggered a severe decline in her kidney function. Although she received a transplant from a childhood friend, the kidney ultimately failed, leading her to rely on dialysis three times a week.
Determined to remain positive despite her challenges, Yvonne uses platforms like TikTok to share her experiences during dialysis, hoping to turn her difficult situation into a source of motivation for others.
To further her mission, she has equipped her vehicle with eye-catching designs and QR codes linked to hospitals where she is on the waiting list for a kidney transplant, including Baylor St. Luke’s in Houston and Medical City Healthcare in North Texas. Yvonne’s initiative is not only about her personal need; she aims to spark conversations around kidney donation and encourage more people to step forward as potential donors.
