The Austin Police Department is currently probing the city’s 27th homicide this year following a tragic incident that occurred on East Riverside Drive.

On the night of June 16, 2026, officers responded to multiple reports of an individual exhibiting signs of trauma in a parking lot located in the 2200 block of East Riverside Drive. Upon arrival at approximately 11 p.m., police discovered the victim and promptly initiated life-saving measures.

Despite the efforts made at the scene and subsequent transport to a nearby hospital, the individual succumbed to their injuries. This incident marks a grim milestone for the city as authorities classify the death as a homicide.
