Two Austin restaurants have recently achieved the prestigious honor of receiving a Michelin star, increasing the total number of Michelin-starred establishments in the city to seven.
The newly recognized restaurants are Kappo Kappo and Fabrik.
Kappo Kappo is situated in the Austin Proper Hotel, near the intersection of West Sixth and Second streets. This establishment specializes in French and Japanese fusion cuisine, offering a rotating menu that changes each night. Diners can expect to pay $195 for a nine-course meal, with the option to enhance their experience through pairings of sake, wine, and Japanese spirits. For those seeking an exclusive experience, private dinners can be arranged starting at $12,000 for up to 15 guests. The culinary vision of Kappo Kappo is brought to life by twin chefs Gohei Kishi and Haru Kishi.
Fabrik, co-owned by Je and Silas Wallerstein, is a vegan restaurant that features an eight-course meal priced at $105 per person, with an additional $65 for wine pairing.
Other one-star Michelin restaurants in the Austin area include Barley Swine, Craft Omakase, Hestia, InterStellar BBQ, and LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue.
Notably, Stefan Davis, the general manager at Barley Swine, received the 2026 Michelin Guide Service Award for his exceptional contributions.
It is worth mentioning that la Barbecue, which held a Michelin star in 2025, is no longer featured on the list. Additionally, Southern fine dining restaurant Olamaie, which previously earned a Michelin star, closed its doors in July.
