Rescue teams recovered the body of a man in his 20s from Lake Travis on Sunday morning, nearly 18 hours after he was reported missing while swimming. The incident occurred near Lago Vista, with authorities confirming the victim was found at a depth of 17 feet, across from Pace Bend Park.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a 911 call at 5:47 p.m. on Saturday, alerting them to a swimmer in distress. Initial rescue efforts were not successful, prompting officials to shift their focus from rescue to recovery.
Deputies from the sheriff’s Lake Patrol conducted searches on Saturday evening before halting operations for the night. The search resumed at 6 a.m. on Sunday, ultimately leading to the discovery of the man’s body around 11:30 a.m.
As of now, authorities have not disclosed the identity of the victim, as they are waiting to notify next of kin.
