A “no-kill” animal shelter in Dickinson is making a concerted effort to ensure that every dog and cat finds a loving home this holiday season. Throughout December, the shelter is offering a special adoption fee of just $20 for all its dogs and cats. Each animal is fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and for those that are heartworm positive, heartworm medication is included.
Nina Baker, the Animal Services Director for Bayou Animal Services, expressed her commitment to finding homes for the shelter’s animals. “I always say the only thing wrong with a shelter dog is they don’t have a home,” she shared, highlighting the importance of fostering or trial adoptions during this festive period.
This initiative not only benefits the animals but also allows shelter staff to enjoy their own holidays knowing the pets have been placed in caring households.
