A former police officer in Liberty, Jason Grindstaff, has surrendered following a grand jury indictment last month. He is currently facing serious charges of official oppression and indecent assault.
Grindstaff, who served as a Liberty police officer, became the subject of an investigation initiated in December. His resignation from the force occurred in February while he was on administrative leave.
The timeline of events began on December 3 when the police chief was informed about a complaint involving Grindstaff. Subsequently, the Texas Rangers took over the investigation, conducting interviews with him before placing him on administrative leave the following day.
Throughout the investigation, officials from the Liberty police department have stated that they fully cooperated with the Texas Rangers, providing all necessary records and documentation.
On February 27, while still on leave, Grindstaff resigned from the police department. He is now being held in custody, and further details regarding the allegations are being gathered.
