One person has lost their life and another is in critical condition following a tragic vehicle accident on Memorial Drive, located just west of Memorial Park. The incident occurred early Monday morning, resulting in a vehicle catching fire after crashing into a tree.
According to Sergeant Sudduth of the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the crash scene near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Chatsworth Drive around 12:30 a.m. Initial investigations indicate that the white sedan was traveling eastbound when it suddenly lost control, veering off the road before colliding with a tree. The vehicle subsequently caught fire, but firefighters were able to extinguish the flames upon arrival.
The passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Preliminary reports suggest that speed may have played a role in the accident.
At this stage, authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims involved in this devastating crash.
