Houston Family Honors Daughter's Memory After Boyfriend Charged with Her Murder

In light of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a family in Houston is sharing the heartbreaking story of 27-year-old Abrianna Hall, who was tragically killed by her boyfriend. This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the need for vigilance and support among loved ones.

A candlelight vigil was held at the Montrose Center on Tuesday evening to honor both survivors of domestic violence and those who have lost their lives to it. Among those honored was Abrianna “Bri” Hall, whose life was cut short in May due to a violent act.

Bri’s mother, Teri Dolley, revealed that her daughter was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend, 31-year-old Aaron McFarland. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has since arrested McFarland, charging him with murder. According to authorities, he accessed Hall’s third-floor apartment using a ladder from his work truck and was found to have stabbed her multiple times.

The devastating news came as a shock to Hall’s family. Teri Dolley recounted that her daughter and McFarland had been in a relationship for roughly two years and were even looking at engagement rings shortly before her untimely death. The family had not noticed any warning signs that would indicate trouble in their relationship.

Instead of preparing for a wedding, Dolley found herself making funeral arrangements. She described her daughter as a “sweetheart” and a “light of sunshine,” emphasizing how well-loved she was by everyone who knew her.

Dolley’s heartbreaking experience highlights the reality that families may be unaware of the struggles their loved ones face in their relationships. “If you’re a person that’s going through domestic violence, let your family help you,” Dolley urged. “It only takes one incident, and that’s what happened — it was one incident, and I don’t have my daughter anymore.”

Bri’s sister, Megan Dolley, reminisced about her sister’s vibrant personality, describing her as funny, caring, and an incredible sibling. She echoed their mother’s sentiments, encouraging families to continuously check in on their loved ones, even when everything seems fine on the surface. “The people that seem the happiest could be going through something, and you’ll never know because they’re always making sure everyone else around them is OK,” Megan remarked.

By sharing Bri’s story during this awareness month, her family hopes to inspire others and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
