A woman lost her life following a shooting incident in the Houston Heights, which subsequently led to a police chase resulting in the arrest of a suspect.
On Friday night around 11:45 PM, law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire on West 20th Street, close to Lawrence Street. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the woman lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities believe the woman had just parked her car and was on her way to visit a friend when she was shot, likely during an attempted robbery.
In the early hours of Saturday, around 1 AM, police pursued a suspect in a stolen vehicle linked to the murder. The chase concluded when the suspect crashed the vehicle on the feeder road of the Southwest Freeway near Buffalo Speedway. Police have confirmed a connection between the shooting and the subsequent pursuit, and the suspect is now in custody.
