Lawsuit Against Lewisville ISD: Allegations of Hazing in Marcus High School Football Team

A lawsuit has been filed against Lewisville Independent School District (ISD) by the family of a former Marcus High School football player, alleging an incident of hazing that reportedly resulted in both physical injuries and psychological distress for their son.

The legal action names Lewisville ISD, several football players from Marcus, and their parents as defendants. The complaint arises from an alleged hazing episode that occurred in October 2025, which the family claims led to their son quitting the sport.

This lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $1 million and requests a jury trial to address the grievances detailed within.

Details of the Alleged Incident

According to the lawsuit, on October 22, 2025, the student participated in an off-campus team dinner where he was allegedly stripped down to his underwear and shot multiple times with a pellet gun at close range. The suit claims the student mistakenly believed the pellet gun was a real firearm, and the incident was recorded on video.

The plaintiff reportedly sustained five injuries that broke the skin on his arm and chest during this encounter.

Lewisville ISD’s Response

In response to the allegations, Lewisville ISD conducted an internal investigation and stated that modifications have been made to their hazing and bullying training. However, the district did not disclose whether any disciplinary actions were taken against the students involved.

Parents’ Reactions

Doug Turner, the father of the affected student, expressed his horror upon learning about the incident five days later, only after a friend brought the video to the attention of school officials. “We were completely shocked, and then we saw all the marks on our son’s body, and we’re just completely horrified,” he stated.

Turner mentioned that his son had aspirations to play football at the University of Arkansas and had garnered interest from several colleges. However, he now struggles with trust issues and insomnia as a result of the incident. “After the incident, he took a couple of days off, and the coach looked at him and said, ‘What are you doing here? I don’t coach quitters.’ And the coach completely turned on him,” Turner recounted, indicating that this response contributed to his son’s decision to leave the team.

Turner believes that Lewisville ISD must be held accountable for the incident, asserting that the district is aware of more details than it has publicly disclosed.

Lewisville ISD’s Position

In light of the ongoing litigation, Lewisville ISD has stated that it has not yet received the lawsuit and therefore cannot comment on pending legal matters.
