A lawsuit has been initiated against a former athletic trainer at McKinney Independent School District, who has been accused of grooming and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student, both on and off campus. This legal action targets Lindsey Post, who has been arrested and charged with two second-degree felonies related to the allegations.
The lawsuit claims that the school district failed to protect the minor by permitting her to be alone with Post, who is 35 years old. The district has not yet issued a public statement regarding the lawsuit.
Details of the Allegations
Post’s arrest occurred last month after police received reports of inappropriate text messages exchanged between her and a student from McKinney North High School. She faces charges of sexual assault of a child and maintaining an improper relationship with a student, both classified as second-degree felonies. Following the allegations, McKinney ISD placed Post on administrative leave, and the district has confirmed that she has since been terminated from her position.
Discovery of the Abuse
An arrest warrant affidavit indicates that the father of the victim discovered the abuse after finding explicit messages on his daughter’s phone. The messages reportedly included phrases such as, “I miss you, baby,” and “I love you, baby,” along with other graphic content. The affidavit suggests that the victim eventually made several disclosures regarding sexual encounters that took place in Post’s vehicle.
Family’s Legal Action
In the wake of these revelations, the victim’s family has filed a lawsuit against both Post and McKinney ISD. The legal complaint alleges that the abuse occurred between November 2025 and January 2026, claiming Post engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the victim on school grounds. Furthermore, the lawsuit contends that McKinney ISD created circumstances that allowed the abuse to occur, particularly by not providing transportation to a school event on the day of the first documented incident.

Paul Herz, the attorney representing the victim’s family, expressed his shock at the situation. He stated, “My understanding is that Post repeatedly took this child away from the school and raped this child. This is one of the worst things that can happen to a child and to a family.” Herz emphasized that the goal is to discourage schools from enabling such abuses within their environments.
Response from McKinney ISD
In response to the lawsuit, McKinney ISD released a statement indicating that their board had voted to terminate Post’s employment. The district confirmed its cooperation with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation. The statement noted, “The District was notified today of a lawsuit filed on behalf of the victim and the victim’s family. However, since there is now pending litigation, the District is unable to comment on matters that are the subject of the litigation.” They reaffirmed their commitment to investigating the case thoroughly and maintaining transparency within legal boundaries.
