A mother in New Caney is desperately searching for answers following the tragic shooting death of her son, Khi Broussard, which occurred four months ago. This heartfelt story highlights the devastating effects of youth violence and the ongoing quest for justice.
Kellie Johnson, Khi’s mother, finds it difficult to comprehend the events that led to her son’s untimely death. On the evening of May 30, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Khi received a call that prompted him to leave their home and head down Stevens Road, where it comes to a dead end. Detectives from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office believe he was meeting someone he had been communicating with on social media.
Just before he left, Kellie had a conversation with her son. “He was on the phone smiling, and I cracked a joke I’ll never forget. I asked him, ‘Who’s got you smiling so hard on that phone? Could it be one of those little girls?’ He started laughing. That was literally the last thing I said to him. He walked outside, thinking he would return, but he never did,” Kellie recounted. She expresses the unimaginable pain of losing a son while also needing to stay strong for her two other children, emphasizing that life must continue despite the grief.
