Seven individuals have been hospitalized following separate shootings that occurred during New Year’s celebrations in Houston. The incidents took place at two different parties, with one shooting reported in the Third Ward and the other in the Northside area.
Third Ward Shooting Details
The first shooting incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Live Oak Street, near Elgin Street. Authorities confirmed that five people sustained injuries in this event, but all are expected to make a full recovery.
Witnesses reported seeing multiple individuals fleeing the scene, and while some were detained for questioning, police indicated that none cooperated with the investigation. Currently, no identities of those involved have been released, and there is no information about potential suspects.
Northside Shooting Details
The second shooting was reported approximately two hours later on Yorkshire Street, close to East Crosstimbers Street and Irvington Boulevard. In this incident, two individuals were confirmed to have been shot. A male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and is in critical condition following surgery, while a female victim was transported to a hospital by a private vehicle.
A Houston Police captain on the scene indicated that around 300 people were attending a party at a short-term rental when the shooting occurred. Authorities possess a brief description of a suspect but are not currently seeking assistance from the public. They are in the process of reviewing security footage from nearby residences.
