A Caldwell County sheriff’s deputy was tragically shot and killed in the parking lot of Club Rodeo in North Austin during the early hours of Sunday morning. The suspect responsible for this incident remains unidentified, prompting the Austin Police Department to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Authorities responded to a call shortly after 2 a.m. regarding an officer from a different agency who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered the deputy in the parking lot suffering from severe injuries. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deputy, who served in the Caldwell County Precinct 3 Constables Office, has not yet been disclosed.
Investigators are currently working to ascertain the motive behind the shooting and the events that led to it. The search for the unknown assailant is ongoing, and detectives are keen to gather information from anyone who may have been present at the nightclub at the time of the incident.
