A rescue operation was conducted near Space Center Houston following a construction incident that resulted in power outages in the vicinity. CenterPoint Energy has reported that approximately 1,300 customers were affected by the outage.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Saturn Lane and Second Street, located between Space Center Houston and the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. Aerial views revealed construction equipment positioned close to downed power lines, indicating the nature of the disruption.
CenterPoint Energy confirmed that a third-party contractor inadvertently struck “electric infrastructure” in the area, leading to the outages. Fortunately, the individual who had been trapped during the construction incident has been successfully rescued.
As of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the outage map from CenterPoint Energy indicated that around 30 customers near the Johnson Space Center were still without power. Restoration estimates range from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the same day.
It is important to note that both Space Center Houston and the Johnson Space Center have not been affected by the power outages, and their operations remain intact.

Space Center Intermediate School has announced the cancellation of classes due to the power outage at the campus. Parents have been advised to pick up their children if they are already on school grounds.
