Residents in northern Harris County have reported a noticeable smell of natural gas, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
On Thursday afternoon, multiple reports emerged from various areas within Harris County Precinct Four regarding the odor. In response to the situation, Lone Star College — Houston North Fallbrook was evacuated shortly before 2 p.m. The campus has since been deemed safe after an assessment by the Houston Fire Department.
Officials from Lone Star College indicated that the fire department found no gas leak on campus, suggesting that the odor likely originated from a gas leak in the Channelview area.
As of now, the exact source of the gas smell remains unconfirmed.
Authorities have advised residents on the appropriate actions to take if they detect a natural gas odor. Recommendations include:
