A 28-year-old man from Princeton, Texas, has been sentenced to life in prison for the severe abuse of his six young children, which included repeated beatings and starvation. The children suffered from extreme malnutrition and permanent injuries due to the abuse, officials reported.
Kevin Dixon received his sentence after pleading guilty to seven counts of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. District Attorney Greg Willis announced that Dixon was sentenced to life on five counts related to physical abuse, while he received an additional 25 years for two counts associated with malnourishment.
Due to a previous felony conviction, Dixon faced a potential sentence ranging from 15 years to life for each count. His history of criminal behavior included a robbery conviction in 2015, for which he served time in prison.
The abuse came to light when the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services intervened in February 2025. Five of the children, all under the age of ten, exhibited numerous marks and scars, and appeared significantly underweight for their ages. This situation had been flagged by the agency back in 2021, when they warned Dixon about inadequate living conditions and excessive disciplinary measures.
“This father brutally beat and starved his own young children, some of whom were toddlers, leaving them with permanent scars and lasting trauma,” said District Attorney Willis. “A tough sentence, like life in prison, is what it takes to protect vulnerable kids and ensure those who inflict such harm face full accountability.”
Following the discovery of the children’s conditions, the Princeton Police Department initiated an investigation. The children were interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, where they recounted experiences of food deprivation and being hit with belts and cords. One child mentioned being beaten for taking a candy bar.
Detectives documented extensive injuries and scarring on the children, including a two-year-old, highlighting the severe nature of the abuse they endured.
