Tragic Accident: Dump Truck Driver Strikes and Kills Pedestrian in New Braunfels

A man has been arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide following a tragic accident in New Braunfels, Texas, where a pedestrian was struck and killed.

The incident occurred on February 23 at approximately 5:45 p.m. when local police and fire departments responded to reports of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 200 block of North Seguin Avenue.

Upon arrival, first responders found the victim, identified as 60-year-old Stephanie Madzy. Despite efforts to revive her, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver involved in the collision has been named as 60-year-old Jude T. Jones. Investigations revealed that Jones was operating a dump truck and had stopped at a red light at the intersection of North Seguin Avenue and Mill Street.

Authorities indicated that Jones failed to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians while making a right turn, resulting in the fatal incident.

Jones is currently being held in the Comal County Jail, facing charges of criminally negligent homicide. The investigation is ongoing, and officials suggest that further charges could be forthcoming.
