Tragic Bell County Shooting: One Teen Killed and Another Injured

One teenager has lost his life, and another has sustained injuries following a shooting incident that occurred on Interstate Highway 14 early Sunday morning, as confirmed by local police authorities in Harker Heights.

At approximately 5 a.m., officers were alerted to Seton Hospital after two individuals with gunshot wounds arrived at the emergency room. The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Sedell Barrios, a resident of Harker Heights, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted. The second victim, also 19 and from Killeen, received initial medical attention at Seton before being transferred to Scott and White Hospital for further treatment.

Initial investigations suggest that the shooting took place along the eastbound lanes of I-14. Detectives are actively pursuing leads and are searching for a dark-colored Nissan sedan that may be connected to the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Harker Heights Police Department is heading the ongoing investigation. Police Chief Sonja V. Clay has made an appeal for anyone with information or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity to reach out to the department at 254-953-5400.
