Authorities in Houston are investigating a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in a wheelchair in the Sunnyside neighborhood on Friday night.

The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Reed Road, close to Edgar Street. Witnesses reported that a silver Mazda sedan struck the man in the wheelchair and subsequently fled the scene before first responders arrived.
