Two Men Caught in Harris County Online Sting Operation Targeting Child Predators

Two men were apprehended in north Harris County as part of a coordinated law enforcement initiative aimed at tackling online child predators. Authorities have confirmed the arrests of Gerardo Galvan, 38, and Alfonso Garcia, 28, who are facing charges related to the online solicitation of a minor.

The operation was executed by the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s High Tech Crimes Unit in conjunction with the Special Operations Unit, the Klein Independent School District Police Department, and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Undercover officers posed as minors on social media to identify adults seeking inappropriate contact with children.

Galvan and Garcia reportedly communicated with the undercover officers, believing them to be juveniles, and subsequently arranged to meet at a location in north Harris County. Following their arrests, both men were charged with online solicitation of a minor, with each held on a bond of $100,000. Garcia is set to appear in the 496th District Court of Harris County, while Galvan’s case will be heard in the 208th District Court.

Investigators also uncovered that Garcia was wanted due to an outstanding immigration warrant issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The operation saw collaboration from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Houston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman emphasized his office’s commitment to protecting children from predators, stating, “I will continue to provide resources to my detectives to identify, locate, and apprehend those who victimize our most vulnerable citizens.”
