14 Year Old Boy Hospitalized Following Electric Shock from Light Pole at Southeast Houston Park

A 14-year-old boy is currently recovering in the hospital after suffering an electric shock from a light pole while playing at a park in southeast Houston on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at F.M. Law Park along Vasser Road. According to the Houston Fire Department, the boy made contact with an energized light pole, which resulted in him going into cardiac arrest.

The young boy has been identified as Angel Galeas. His older brother, Joseph Vasquez, reported that a Little League baseball coach was quick to respond, administering CPR until emergency services arrived. Paramedics continued life-saving measures before transporting Angel to a nearby hospital.

Joseph Vasquez shared that Angel is now in stable condition and considers his brother fortunate to have survived the ordeal.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the Houston Fire Department disconnected the circuit breaker to the park, ensuring that the light pole is no longer energized.

This alarming event has sparked safety concerns among parents who frequently visit the park with their children. The facility is managed by the City of Houston, and inquiries have been made to city officials and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department regarding the inspection and repair of the light pole. However, no response has been received as of yet.
