$1.4 Million in Illegal Drugs Seized at South Texas Vehicle Inspection by DPS

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently confiscated approximately $1.4 million worth of illicit drugs during a commercial vehicle inspection in Webb County on September 22. This significant seizure took place at the Laredo Port of Entry.

During the inspection, which was part of a collaborative effort with federal agencies known as Operation Lone Star, authorities discovered 94 pounds of fentanyl. This quantity translates to more than 19 million potentially fatal doses. In addition to fentanyl, the officers also uncovered substantial amounts of other narcotics, including 26 pounds of methamphetamine, 18 pounds of heroin, and 15 pounds of eutylone.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals: 53-year-old Ernesto Jamie from Wisconsin and 51-year-old Enrique Ramirez Valle from Oklahoma. Both men were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and are currently held at the Webb County Jail.

This seizure highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety in the region.
