Houston Weather Forecast: Rain Expected to Intensify Thursday Through the Weekend

Rainfall is set to intensify across Houston starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend, fueled by tropical moisture interacting with a slow-moving weather front. This combination is likely to bring repeated downpours, potentially resulting in several inches of rain in various regions. High temperatures will also decline, settling into the 80s as wet weather persists.

The primary risk for flooding in Houston is anticipated on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, when conditions will be most conducive to heavy rainfall.

Across Texas, from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to Austin and San Antonio, multiple rounds of heavy rain are expected this week, with localized totals reaching between 2 to 6 inches. Areas that experience storms repeatedly may see even higher accumulations, raising concerns about flash flooding, inundated roads, and rising levels in creeks and rivers.

This September marks a historic milestone, as it is the first month in the modern era without any hurricanes forming in the Atlantic basin. While this season has witnessed eight tropical storms, not a single hurricane has emerged, largely attributed to the strong El Niño phenomenon developing in the Pacific.

It’s important to remain vigilant as hurricane season continues for another two months, leaving the possibility for additional systems to form.
