Dallas Police Launch Manhunt for Drive By Shooter Who Tragically Killed Single Mother

Dallas Police Seek Drive-By Shooter Following Tragic Death of Young Mother

Dallas authorities are actively searching for the individual responsible for a drive-by shooting that resulted in the tragic death of a young mother at an apartment complex in Oak Cliff. The incident, which occurred at the Estelle Village Apartments, commonly referred to as “The Pinks,” left one woman dead and five others injured.

The shooting took place on September 12, claiming the life of 25-year-old Zariea Brown, a single mother who leaves behind a young daughter. According to the Dallas Police Department, over 60 rounds were fired during the incident, indicating a violent and chaotic scene.

Detective Brewster Billings of the Homicide Unit reported that a large gathering of people was outside the complex enjoying the pleasant weather when a maroon Dodge Charger drove by and opened fire indiscriminately. “We’re talking in excess of 60 shots fired,” Det. Billings remarked, highlighting the severity of the situation. He emphasized that Brown was not the intended target of the shooting; rather, the police suspect it was gang-related and aimed at a young individual involved in gang activities.

Authorities have obtained video footage showing the maroon Dodge Charger during the incident, including moments before the shooting occurred. “We have video of the vehicle driving by shooting, as well as the vehicle on a side street prior to the shooting,” said Det. Billings. Although the shooter’s face is not distinguishable in the footage, the detective believes that someone in the community may recognize the vehicle or its occupants.

Detectives are urging anyone with knowledge about the shooter or the vehicle to come forward. “The streets talk. We know that Miss Brown was not the intended target of this shooting. We believe this is gang related, and the target was a young gangster wannabe,” Billings explained, appealing to the public for any leads that could assist in the investigation.
