A family is seeking justice after a local mother was seriously injured in an alleged hit-and-run incident in Seabrook. The victim, Kristie McCall, is currently facing a challenging recovery and has a heartfelt message for the driver involved in the incident.
Earlier this week, Kristie McCall was driving on the Kemah Bridge shortly before 9 a.m. after dropping her daughters off at school. She noticed something unusual with one of her tires and decided to pull over to investigate. Unfortunately, it was during this moment that she was allegedly struck by another vehicle.
“I felt like my tire was riding a little funny, so I stopped and pulled on the feeder to check my tire,” McCall recounted. “I never remember getting to check my tire. I woke up several feet away from my car. I saw blood dripping from my head and I looked at my leg, and it was ripped open.”
According to McCall, the driver did not stop following the collision. A passing motorist quickly called 911, and McCall was rushed to the hospital. Her injuries are severe, including a broken foot and ankle, fractured vertebrae, staples in her head, and a contusion on her brain. She has already undergone several surgeries and is expected to require more in the future. Currently, she remains hospitalized, focusing on her recovery and the well-being of her four children.
“The hardest part is I’m a single mom,” McCall expressed. “I do everything for my kids, and just laying here and not being able to do the things I do for them every day has been the hardest.”
Dawn McCall, Kristie’s mother, expressed her relief that her daughter survived the incident. “I was really afraid I was going to lose her,” she said.
In the wake of this traumatic event, Kristie and her family are calling for justice. They urge the driver responsible or any witnesses to step forward and provide information. “I want the driver to come forward or witnesses to come forward,” Dawn McCall stated. “And I want to thank the person who stopped to help her, because who knows how long she would have been there before paramedics arrived.”
Seabrook police are actively investigating the alleged hit-and-run and are encouraging anyone with information to contact them. In addition, the family has launched a fundraiser to assist Kristie and her daughters during this trying time.
