Second Suspect Arrested in 2021 East Austin Shooting Case

A second suspect has been apprehended in connection with a murder case from 2021 in East Austin. The Austin Police Department confirmed the arrest on December 17, following the issuance of a murder warrant for 29-year-old Lamar James, who was already incarcerated on unrelated charges.

James is now the second individual to be charged in the homicide of 63-year-old James Burrows, who was tragically shot and killed on August 1, 2021. Police responded to the scene that day, finding Burrows lying in a parking lot on E. 38 ½ St.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that Burrows’ death was a homicide resulting from gunfire. The investigation continues as authorities seek to gather more information regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident.
