A police pursuit in Lake Worth culminated in a fatal officer-involved shooting on Friday night. The suspect, who was wanted on previous charges, died at the scene, while no officers sustained injuries.
The Lake Worth Police Department confirmed that the deceased individual was sought for soliciting prostitution. The incident began shortly before 8 p.m. with what was initially a routine traffic stop.
During the stop, officers discovered the suspect’s outstanding warrant, prompting the pursuit. Following a vehicle crash, the suspect exited the car while allegedly brandishing what appeared to be a weapon. According to the police chief, the suspect assumed a “shooting stance” directed at the officers, who then responded by firing at the individual.
Four officers from the department were involved in the shooting, which took place near Jacksboro Highway and Paul Meador Drive. Tragically, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, law enforcement personnel were unharmed.
The Texas Rangers are conducting the investigation into this incident, with assistance from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Residents are advised to steer clear of the area while the investigation is ongoing.
As of now, the identity of the suspect has not been disclosed, and additional information is limited.
