Forget Flowers: Houston Animal Shelter Launches Free Valentine's Day Pet Fostering Program

Looking to discover true affection this Valentine’s Day? If you’re in search of unconditional love without any obligations, there’s an exciting opportunity for you.

Best Friends Animal Society is inviting the community to foster a dog or cat for a night—or even longer—at no cost on Friday, February 13th, from 3 to 5 p.m. at their Pinemont shelter. All necessary food and supplies will be provided, and if foster parents find themselves captivated by their temporary companion, adoption options are available. However, if you choose not to adopt, returning the pet is absolutely fine. Even fostering for just a short period can help create more space in the shelter and offer the animals a much-needed break. You can view the available pets on the Best Friends Animal Society website.

Best Friends Animal Society is offering a chance for an unforgettable Valentine’s Day experience at zero cost. Instead of the usual dinner, candy, and flowers, consider visiting the BFAS shelter located at 901 Pinemont on Friday, February 13, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

During this event, you have the opportunity to foster any available dog or cat for the night or longer, with all necessary supplies included. “If you form a bond and decide to keep the dog or cat permanently, we can certainly facilitate that,” said Kerry McKeel from Best Friends Animal Society. “If that’s not the case, you can return the pet with no pressure. Just fostering for a day or two can make a significant difference in saving lives.”
