Authorities in Celina have apprehended a driver suspected of causing a fatal motorcycle accident and subsequently fleeing the scene.
On February 3, police responded to reports of a significant collision in the 15500 block of FM 428, near Creekview Meadows Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Alexander Lopez, the motorcyclist, unconscious and unresponsive. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Witnesses reported that a pickup truck, involved in the incident, left the scene without stopping to assist Lopez. Following an investigation, law enforcement identified the driver as 68-year-old Mario Aguilar, who was arrested soon after.
Aguilar now faces charges of criminally negligent homicide and failure to stop and render aid in a collision resulting in personal injury or death.
While the investigation is ongoing, the exact circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear.
In a statement, the Celina Police Department expressed their condolences, offering heartfelt sympathy and prayers to those affected by this tragic event.
